Established in 1952 our site in Montrose has a 45 acre footprint, which manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for conversion to drug products at approximately 30 secondary sites and has a core capability to manufacture 10 API's and supply corticosteroids and respiratory products, which play a key role in treatment of things such as HIV and the Flu virus.
To help strengthen and develop our API manufacturing capability we are seeking Permit to work co-ordinators to play a key role the management of all permit activity allowing various planned and unplanned work by GSK staff and contractor workers across the site in a timely, safe and controlled manner.
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain the permit to work offices and ensure equipment is fit for purpose.
• Capable of issuing all classes of PTW (General and Hot Work).
• Clearly discuss and explain all precautions required by receivers to ensure a safe method of work.
• Ensure effective lines of communication are open between operations and planning departments, as well as issuers and receivers.
• Manages and coordinates all permit issuance in line with the site safety procedures and business requirements to ensure safe and controlled implementation of permit to work activity.
• Supports risk management process in designated areas. Proficient in hazard awareness & accountable for ensuring control measures are implemented to eliminate risk. Monitor all permits issued on a daily basis to maintain a safe and compliant way of working.
• Ensure all aspects of issued permits are recorded and communicated to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Where or when a safety incident occurs during work covered by a PTW the appropriate UIR is raised and the permit issuer is involved in the investigation and closure of UIR.
• Manage and control the issuance of padlocks, spectacle plates, gas monitors and other equipment required as part of the permit to work in line with site LSOPs.. Specify or carry out any isolation, venting, draining, flushing, purging and dissipation of stored energy to allow work to be carried out safely as detailed in site LSOPs.
• Clearly specify on the relevant PTW form all precautions necessary to ensure safety of the permit acceptor, personnel potentially affected, plant and equipment.
• Communicate required testing plant as per the permit to work. Ensure thorough handover of ongoing PTW activities, with clear accountability understood at all times.
• Carry out audits of live and complete permits in your own and others area's
• Liaise with production planners and operations representatives to agree windows for significant engineering work.
• Ensure appropriate method statements and risk assessments are in place to support safe ways of working.
• Issue decontamination and cleanliness certificates, as appropriate.
• Prepare and issue confined entry certificates.
• Ensure GMP assessments are carried out on any work that involves plant intrusive work.
• Ensuring all engineering work is carried out following cGMP standards to minimize risk of PCCE in plant and batches
• Support and drive improvements in the sites permit to work systems
Basic qualifications
• Knowledge of process plant.
• Authorised to issue all classes of permit.
• Authorised to issue confined entries.
• Knowledge of site safety procedures.
• Ability to prioritise while liaising with several other functions.
• Excellent communicator.
• IOSH qualification (not required if NEBOSH certificate has been achieved)
Preferred Qualifications
• NEBOSH qualification.
• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
