As the Packaging Operator you will support the daily packaging operations, a vial and prefilled syringe vaccine packaging facility that inspects, labels, and packages GSK's commercial vaccines. Reporting to the Packaging Supervisor, your primary responsibilities of this role are to operate manual and automated packaging equipment to include: vial and syringe labelers, bundlers, manual pack out systems, manual shipping case palletizer, manual hand jacks and cardboard cartoning equipment as well as being involved in both start-up and product changeover activities in accordance with all applicable standard operating procedures and safety directives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform quality line checks, recording production quantities and performing reconciliation for product and consumption for pre-printed components.
• Perform pre and post line clearances.
• Clean packaging equipment and work area.
• Perform off line visual inspection of packaging materials, syringes, vials etc.
• Assure that all documentation is completed properly.
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures and training guides as needed.
• Perform packaging batch record document review and interact with the computer inventory control system.
• The ability to effectively build and maintain relationships within a multidisciplinary packaging team and be customer focused.
• Oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• The ability to exhibit flexible thinking.
• The ability to enable and drive change while looking to continually make process improvements.

Desired profile

Basic qualifications:
Possess a High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum one year experience in packaging
Able to work 2nd shift
M-F 2:00 pm-10:30 pm

Previous hands on experience in a GMP environment.
• Demonstrate some mechanical aptitude in order to assist mechanics with line changeovers and identify mechanical issues while equipment is operational.
• Be able to maintain visual qualifications: (checked annually) Qualifications include: ability to see all colors and the ability to visually discern product specifications on multiple vaccine products.
• Be able to read, understand, and follow written procedures and document results (in English) in a neat and precise manner according to company and regulatory standards.
• Be able to perform calculations using simple mathematical formulas and a calculator (includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
• Be able to meet the physical requirements including stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a maximum of 50 pounds.
• Be able to work while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all GMP areas for an entire shift. (Includes safety shoes, glasses and hair\beard covers).
• Be able to work on second and/or third shift and may include holidays, and weekends and over-time may be required.
• Demonstrate basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and have the ability to quickly and easily learn new applications.

Preferred qualifications:
• A BS or BA in a biological, chemical science, engineering or degree in other discipline if sufficient technical
Minimum one year experience in Packaging

• Previous pharmaceutical packaging operator experience in pharmaceutical and/or bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing to include, hands-on experience in labeling and cardboard cartoning operations.
• Previous experience leading others through teams, projects or other relevant experience.
• Previous experience facilitating and training employees in a regulated\compliance based environment.
• A complete understanding of GMP's and other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
