GSK is currently looking for a Material Planner in Rockville, MD to join our team. Responsible for ensuring supply of existing and new materials to support the operations across all value streams and laboratories. The role will use SAP to support on time delivery of materials to ensure manufacturing groups can meet agreed schedule. Planner will interact with SAP inventories and scheduling, vendors, warehouse and P2P business.
Key Responsibilities:
· Procedures: Operates in compliance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures and cGMP practices and updates and reviews department procedures, SOP’s, WI’s, and training documents with guidance. Receives training on Production Planning processes as needed.
· In SAP, responsible for ensuring purchase orders are placed on time and monitored to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
· Understand all processes related to purchasing (direct and indirect), production, planning and materials modules in SAP to deliver service Rockville operation.
· Maintain and optimize material requirement planning parameters in M-ERP.
· Apply knowledge of master data and bill of materials to deliver solutions to different manufacturing areas, will be able to deliver on call, off hours support to the business.
· Work as a team member to support the different expedite needs both externally and internally within the Rockville operation.
· Support improvements for execution of site key business process within the scope of raw materials and consumables – such as financial budgeting, forecasting and expiry management.
· Collaboration with site scheduling, warehouse, quality and QC to resolve issues and implement process improvements around raw materials and consumables to drive time and cost savings
· Maintain KPIs utilizing supply chain best practices to monitor supplier performance and raw materials and consumable inventory
· Develop relationships with suppliers to follow up to orders, manage expedite request, data management and vendor forecasts.
· Execute vendor change notifications and identify opportunities for alternate sourcing
· Troubleshoot SAP related issues and/or develop into an SAP super user
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
· HS Diploma plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Supply Planning in an MRP system OR AA Degree plus a minimum of 4 years’ experience working with Supply Planning in an MRP system OR BS Degree with a minimum of 1 year experience working with Supply Planning in an MRP system.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
· Minimum two years of experience working in a GMP environment with Supply Chain experience
· Ability to effectively influence and build trust in a cross-functional environment
· Lead teams in a matrix environment
· Able to adapt to fast paced environment
· Effective communicator
· Experience working with SAP
· Previous experience using MRP system
· Experience with planning, manufacturing or procurement
· Interpersonal skills, able to be a team player.
· Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
· Effective communication to all levels of the organization both orally and written.
· Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency.
· Able to prioritize and decide appropriate courses of action.
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Effective at implementing decisions.
· Any of the following certifications (preferred):
· APICS - CFPIM – Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management
· APICS - CPIM – Certified in Production and Inventory Management
· APICS - CSCP – Certified Supply Chain Professional
· Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt
