Ware Manufacturing Site:
Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company's pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products. This must be achieved whilst consistently delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.
The GSK Production System is the way in which GSK works towards achieving Zero accidents, Zero defects and Zero waste. It is a common set of simple standards called the GPS Basics . By applying these same standards to everything we do across all of our supply chains, we can work better and more easily, and focus on continually improving the things that matter to the person at the end of the supply chain.
Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities:
The Lean/ GPS Associate role exists to support the deployment and embedding of the GPS into a Site to deliver the Business Strategy and improve Business Performance (Quality, Safety, Service, Cost, and Innovation).
As a key member of the Site GPS team the Lean / GPS Associate is responsible for :-
Delivering activities and initiatives to ensure the GPS provides continuous improvement in the site performance towards the goal of Zero Accidents, Zero Defects and Zero Waste.
To work directly with GPS Practitioners to develop new approaches, build capability and support improvement activities
To coach / train the site teams in GPS to increase capability in each basic and the system.
To support the GPS Lead and GPS team to communicate the GPS and share best practice and successes across site and the GMS network.
Accountability:
▪ Support day-to-day deployment of the GPS and performance improvement activities at site, under the direction of the GPS Lead and/or GPS Practitioners.
▪ Deliver according to the GPS implementation plans in each zone where required..
▪ Support continuous capability development of self and others, developed by the GPS Central team.
▪ Actively role modeling GPS skills and behaviours.
▪ Coach individuals and teams in a range of roles and at levels up to and including Site Leadership Team to develop and sustain continuous improvement mindsets and behaviours.
▪ Provide advice on the GPS basics to the site based on competent understanding of the GPS and its elements
▪ Support Site Strategy Deployment, including delivery of key projects to achieve the Site's ambition.
▪ The GPS Associate is expected to develop through their role to achieve the necessary capability to take increasing responsibility in GPS deployment and improvement
Complexity:
Will lead multiple improvement activities in a wide range of operational and support areas without direct resource.
Competent influencing of all levels of the organisation from SLT to shop floor.
Will be involved in leading edge GPS work with a view to sharing with other manufacturing sites.
Complex manufacturing, packing and supply chain processes.
Specialised technical processes related to development and introduction of new products and technologies.
Complex quality assurance and control processes.
Ability to work under pressure in situations that are often unstable and uncertain.
Matrix working with inter-, intra-site and Central Function individuals.
Rapidly changing business environment.

Desired profile
Basic qualifications:
•The application / deployment of GPS must be done in a way to develop the capability of the people to deliver the required business results.
• Knowledge of applying the Lean/GPS standards as part of a system approach is critical to achieving the desired Business goals.
• Ability to support site teams through the change and to continuously improve, positively influencing the mindset and behaviours needed to change.
• Basic understanding and application of the GSK Change Framework.
• Demonstrated evidence of delivering continuous improvement and/or projects
• Able to demonstrate experience of coordinating / leading / managing complex work and/or teams
• Proven ability to effectively influence stakeholders to secure buy-in and support for plans and ideas.
• Demonstrated awareness of the GPS and the six basic elements (Capability Level 3 expected when fully performing role but not necessarily when starting in role)
• Strong oral, visual and written communication skills with capability to communicate at a range of organisation levels and technical areas..
• High proficiency with business software, in particular MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS Word
• Ability to identify creative business and/or technical solutions.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• General business acumen to be able to link site strategy and GPS thinking to key areas for business improvement.
• Demonstrates strength in all of the GSK Leadership essentials.
• High learning agility as defined within GSK Talent Management
• The Lean / GPS Associate is expected to be assessed as having high potential to take on leadership roles within GSK but is not necessarily expected to have held a supervisory or leadership position.
