Join GSK’s Apprentice Programme – Montrose UK, 2024: Help us get ahead of disease together
This GSK apprenticeship lasts up to four years and gives you the chance to earn while you learn. We are looking for motivated individuals with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn, who are excited to develop practical and problems solving skills. No prior experience is required as you will be given full training.
The Montrose Manufacturing site is not an R&D facility, we manufacture 40 stages of organic chemistry ranging in complexity and scale, while at all times striving for process improvements to be more cost efficient, reduce our environmental impact and improve product quality.
Education required:
· Applicants must have / be predicted a minimum of 104 UCAS points with one being advanced higher chemistry (or equivalent) at a minimum of a B.
· Higher in Math’s and English is preferred.
· Must have obtained five Scottish National 5’s at grade A-C (or five Standard Grades 1-3, or equivalent)
· Must include National 5: Math's at a B or above, a Science subject and English at C or above.

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

This Apprenticeship is based at our Montrose site in Angus, Scotland, which is the largest GSK site in Scotland. On site we make Respiratory products (for Asthma and COPD), HIV medicines and other drug substances for patients all over the world.
Ahead together with tailored training and career development
As a laboratory apprentice you will help to investigate processes for improvements from testing in the laboratory to implementing them in full scale manufacture. You will also experience everything from traditional techniques used for raw materials and finished product and chemical experiments, to the use of automated equipment.
You will also attend University, where you will work towards a Degree in Chemical Sciences
Throughout your apprenticeship you will be supported by your line manager, an early talent programme manager as well as an apprentice buddy.
What will you do?
· Learn a range of experimental techniques and how to operate specialist laboratory equipment to improve our process chemistry.Analyze, interpret, and investigate data and test results – as well as write reports on your findings.
· Learn about the process each drug or product follows through from pilot to full scale manufacturing.
· Get involved in improvement projects.
· Test and commission new laboratory equipment and support full scale chemical manufacture.

· Starting salary of £19,800 increasing to £24,800/ year after 1 year (subject to review annually) + annual bonus based on company performance
