Job Overview:
This position is to provide design, implementation, delivery and support of security devices, including firewalls, web proxies, network routers, switch and associated devices.
This person will be part of a team accountable for the day to day global delivery of hardware and firewall changes for Perimeter services. They will conduct implementation and ongoing changes to perimeter firewalls, VPN termination devices and networks routers/switch. Support cost effective, reliable tiered commodity services, measured through service level and technical management processes. Leverage Lean Sigma and voice of the customer processes to service excellence and continuous service improvement. Coordinate with internal and external service providers to deliver mission critical service to defined SLAs. This role exists to ensure that GSK maintains internal capability to cope with multi dimensional, in-deep technically complex issues across Perimeter Platforms.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Provide day to day 3rd level Incident/Problem Management for the GSK Perimeter infrastructure.
Provide implementation and support services for GSK's perimeter infrastructure - any capability or component that links the GSK network to an external entity. This includes the Internet, 3rd-Party connections and Remote Access services. Key infrastructure components include (but are not limited to) firewalls, intrusion detection sensors (IDS), border routers/switches, VPN routers and VPN concentrators
Conduct add/move/changes to the existing firewall policies in support of business needs.
Operate as part of a team accountable for the day to day global delivery of hardware and firewall changes for Perimeter services.
Conduct implementation and ongoing changes to perimeter devices, VPN termination devices and networks routers/switch.
Provide On Call Support – available for 24x7 on-call rotation (within the Local law regulations) providing support where/when required. This includes most Level 1/Level 2 support, such as break/fix, project support, system testing after a change and various other activities.
Liase with Managed Service Provider for Perimeter related issues/services.
Manage and fulfill user requests in a timely manner and in accordance with established metrics and have the ability to meet request fulfillment task and operate within SLA timeframes.
Ensure GSK Firewall devices and processes are monitored and controlled.
Ensure solutions to business problems are implemented in accordance with standards and policies and that the network infrastructure and services adequately and efficiently address business requirements.
Maintain perimeter hardware, software and B2B services to enable GSK's operational relationships with external business partners including (but not limited to) business process outsourcing (BPO), off shoring, service providers, alliance partners, suppliers and customers.
Operate effectively within an ITIL service management framework.
Provide Firewall lifecycle/capacity management.
Utilize ADP principles and process improvement techniques to continually improve services.
Must be able to represent Perimeter Services on Business teams or projects.
Work with vendors to evaluate and new perimeter solutions or technologies if requested.
Develop and deliver oral and written presentations as required for EIS personnel.
Engages with local site IT for repairs/replacements.
Engage in or lead urgent high priory conference calls investigate major service impacting issues (SWAT calls).
Create and update service alerting for duration of incidents [RTPA's, Service Alerts, IT help Alerts].
General understanding of network captures.

Desired profile

Basic qualifications:
Associate degree in related position with 1-2 years IT experience.
Must be familiar with and have working knowledge of proxy servers and Web browser technologies.
Requires knowledge of networking technologies including: TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, Proxy Servers, Cisco routers and switches and VPNs.
Knowledge of firewall technologies including Checkpoint firewalls GAiA and SPLAT (CCSE preferred), Unified Threat Management appliances, Provider-1, VSX.
The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.

Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree in related field.
Knowledge of network security technologies and their interaction with firewall technologies, including anti-spoofing, network intrusion detection/protections systems
Crossbeam platforms X series devices preferred.
Experience with ITIL service management framework and Six Sigma process improvement techniques.
The ability to work beyond standard office hours if needed.
