Job description

Details:

We are a science-led global healthcare company. Our operating model and our business model both are designed to support us in our mission.
We are focused around three core businesses: Pharmaceuticals, Vaccines and GSK Consumer Healthcare.

We have a significant global presence with commercial operations in more than 150 countries, a network of 84 manufacturing sites in 36 countries and large R&D centres in the UK, US, Belgium and China.

We have an exciting opportunity for an In Vivo Immunologist, to join GSK's Respiratory Therapeutic Area as a laboratory-based scientist within the Allergic Inflammation Discovery Performance Unit (AI-DPU) in the United Kingdom (Location: GSK's site in Stevenage).

You will be working in a stimulating and fast moving environment, where we put great emphasis on high quality science. The AI-DPU is a multi-disciplinary team of professionals exploring novel immunotherapeutic strategies for treatment of asthma.

Asthma is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases, with an estimated 300 million patients worldwide and an increasing prevalence, in particular among children. It is increasingly realised to be a heterogeneous disease with multiple endotypes, including a major group encompassing allergic asthma which is characterized by IgE antibodies and type-2 cytokine-driven chronic airway inflammation, remodelling and airway hyperresponsiveness.

The AI-DPU develops targets from their initial discovery all the way to proof of efficacy studies of our drug candidates in the clinic, and therefore we have a great focus on the patients we intend to treat.

The successful candidate will devise, coordinate, perform, analyse and interpret in vivo animal experimental studies within a team focusing on the identification and validation of novel asthma targets and associated biomarkers.
