Basic qualifications:
• BSc/Masters in Immunology, Biomedical/Biological science or Pharmacology
• Experience in pharmaceutical industry or biotech preferred
• Poven knowledge of innate immunity/immunology/complement biology/assay development
• Capable of working in a team and possess good balance of creative, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Maintains a disciplined approach, ensuring a relentless focus on quality, compliance, scientific rigour and operational excellence
• Able to consider the bigger picture while also maintaining an appropriate attention to detail
• Can communicate complete and accurate information while maintaining confidentiality

Within the Immuno-inflammation Therapy Area, we are seeking highly motivated and experienced scientists to join the Cytokine, Chemokine and Complement Discovery Performance Unit (C3 DPU). This DPU provides an integrated focus for GSK in cytokines, chemokines and the complement system with a balanced portfolio of early stage drug discovery in the field of complement and clinical development programs targeting cytokine and chemokine biology.

We are looking for talented individuals to help drive the C3 DPU early discovery programs. In particular, the successful candidate will have proven experience in one or more of the following research areas:
• Complement biology
• Immunology
• Flow cytometry
• Cell biology and cell signaling
• Molecular biology
• Biochemistry
• Assay development

Key responsibilities:
1. Be responsible for developing assays to support early drug (both biologics and small molecule programs) discovery research e.g. target validation, lead optimisation etc.
2. Work closely with program leader to ensure appropriate data is generated and have accountability for data analysis and interpretation
3. Representation of the DPU, Therapy Area and Company by presenting at internal and external meetings.
