Ware Manufacturing Site:
Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company's pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products. This must be achieved whilst consistently delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.

Job Purpose:

Key responsibilities:
We have a number of opportunities available now for Production Technical Operator roles in our Respiratory Filling operation.

All Production Technical Operator roles require the individual:

• To work as a flexible and motivated member of a team.

• To follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Work (SW) applicable and in which the individual has been trained.

• To act at all times in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), as defined in the Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors (‘Orange Guide') and report any issues.

• To act in a safe manner at all times (in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, and all other relevant legislation), and to use the GSK safety reporting systems to highlight potential hazards.

• To stay up-to-date with all training requirements (both ‘classroom' courses and computer-based online ‘MyLearning' activities) as identified in the job-holder's training plan.

• To take part in ‘continuous improvement' (CI) activities to highlight improvements to equipment and processes.

In addition, within RSC Filling those appointed would be expected to:

• To set up batches (consisting of kegs of blend and spools of base and lid foil): booking materials on computer systems, physically bringing the batch materials on line, setting up batch information on printers etc.

• To make adjustments to the filling process to ensure a consistent quality of filled strip production in compliance with the batch documentation, SOPs and SW, and to minimise rejects in the process.

• During production, and with reference to SOPs and SW, to monitor machine reject alarms, equipment state and quality of strip produced and take appropriate actions to remedy or escalate any problems.

• To perform In-Process Control (IPC) checks on a routine basis, and take corrective action where results fall outside specification (as detailed in SOPs and batch documentation) to ensure consistent quality of manufactured strip.

• To perform all daily and weekly checks and critical device challenges to ensure the filling machine and ancillary equipment operate within specification to ensure consistent quality of manufactured strip.

• To perform batch reconciliations and complete all batch-related documentation accurately, including use of company Information Technology (IT) systems (including the 'Systems Applications & Products / Manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning Solution' [SAP/MERPS], Activplant, Aspen lnfoPlus21 (IP21), Batch 21, Myleaming, Environmental Monitoring System (EMS), planning spreadsheets and team sites, Material Safety Data Sheets, SW and SOPs). This includes processing material movement of finished strip to the Store 70 warehouse. The process of reconciliation ensures that all materials brought on line are accounted for at the end of the batch, and prevents cross-contamination of subsequent batches.

• To dismantle, clean and reassemble the machine to required SOP standards and perform line
clearances between batches to ensure there is no cross-contamination of product and/or materials to
subsequent batches.

• When not operating a filling line, to act in a support role to ensure continuous production is maintained by covering operators' breaks; also re-supplying the filling lines with components and materials (including use of electric pallet trucks if trained); assisting with batch changes, cleaning and line clearance; assisting with training; taking part in departmental projects and operating the 'minicoiler'
unit to assemble sample devices for testing.

• To be a trained Fire Marshal for the area in order to comply with site Health & Safety procedures.

• To take on additional roles within the department, as agreed with the individual's manager and in accordance with the area Team Plan. Additional roles in Filling department include: Document Author/Content Owner (SOP and/or Standard Work); Quality Management System (QMS) Reviewer; Safety Assessor (Noise, Manual Handling. Ergonomic, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health [COSHH]).

Desired profile

Basic qualifications:

- A good standard of numeracy and literacy;
- Operator Assessment Kit (OAK) test standard 4-4-4 or Online OAK's equivalent

Preferred qualifications:

GCSE Mathematics & English or equivalent.
