The Facility Mechanical Engineer provides in-depth technical knowledge and support to the site in the operation, design and maintenance of utility systems and facility infrastructure. The Facility Mechanical Engineer provides design and construction supervision and oversight on capital projects and is responsible for ensuring that field work is done in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and GSK design guides and procedures.

Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new utility equipment/systems or modifications to existing equipment/systems. This may include assessing an economic, environmental, quality, conservation, or productivity impact while generating engineering design reports and construction drawings.

Perform or participate in root cause investigations related to utility system failures and incidents.
·
Assist in the development of repair or modification plans for site utility systems.
·
Develop and implement capital project plans and budgets per GSK project management standards particularly through the concept and design phases. Work closely with project manager during implementation.

Ensures that facility infrastructure (mechanical utility systems) is maintained in robust fashion and the site’s capacity and utilization is well understood.

Ensures that standards for various systems are maintained.
·
Provides guidance and support to contract service providers.
·
Reports unsafe acts and hazards and encourage others to work safely.
·
Utilizes and continuously improves towards the goal of Zero accidents, zero defects and zero waste.
·
Coordinates the work of external engineering and construction contractors, vendors and manufacturers as needed for capital design and implementation.
·
Makes decisions on field problems based on interpretation of government regulations, industry practices, building codes and GSK design standards.
·
Partners with project manager to ensure the successful completion of commissioning, turnover and closeout activities, including acceptance testing, training, corrective work, etc.
·
Ensure that projects, change controls, and plant modifications are reviewed appropriately.
·
Ensure that facility system information including capacity, utilization, manuals, and drawings are maintained properly.
·
Ensure that programs submitted by contract service providers are reviewed and approved.
·
Ensure that systems and processes are continuously improved by performing routing GEMBAs and process confirmations, performing problem solving, and developing standard work.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
·
BS in mechanical engineering.
·
Minimum of 3+ years' experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
·
Familiarity and experience with USP purified water, chilled water, steam/condensate and HVAC systems.
·
Manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
·
Professional engineering license
·
5+ years supporting manufacturing sites facility plant/infrastructure equipment.
·
Ability to read loop, single line electrical schematics, and P&ID drawings and associate w/ mechanical aspects/overall system functionality.
·
Strong initiative and integrity as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
·
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
·
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
·
Experience with Lean manufacturing / Lean Sigma Green Belt certified, RCI’s.
