In the heart of rural Teasdale, the GSK site at Barnard Castle is a key member of the Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) organisation producing some of the world's leading dermatological, sterile, inhaled and oral medicines for a wide range of diseases including MRSA, leukaemia and HIV.

To help enable us to strengthen and increase capacity & capability across the site, we are looking to appoint a high-calibre Equipment Project Engineer.

A Vacancy has become available for the role of Equipment Engineer in the Engineering & IT Department – Project Engineering.

The role presents a fantastic opportunity for an engineering professional who is committed to personal and professional development and who is flexible to adapt to engineering opportunities / projects to best support the business.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Work with customer and project team members to develop proposals
• Management of engineering/equipment activities of multi-disciplined projects
• Ensure that all GSK and Regulatory specifications are complied with
• Plan, organise and control works within a project
• Control and manage costs in areas of responsibility
• Appraise engineering proposals
• Management of internal resource and supervision of external contractor resource.
• Ensure safe working practices are employed at all times and follow appropriate Regulations
• Handover projects to the customer to agreed specification
• Make timely decisions
• Demonstrate leadership within Project Team
• Follow GSK Project Management process.

Desired profile

Basic qualifications:

• A minimum of an HNC in Engineering, Scientific or Technical discipline, ideally to degree level
• Broad technical knowledge of Secondary Manufacturing equipment and processes
• Previous experience in managing / co-ordinating equipment installation projects
• A proven Production Engineering background
• Ideally having served a recognised Engineering apprenticeship
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with a wide range of people and levels both internally and externally
• Have a flexible approach to time management to suit project requirements and availability to travel to vendors premises and other GSK Sites
• Good appreciation of EHS and Quality regulatory standards and bodies
• Demonstrated capability to drive process improvements for business benefit
• Capable of demonstrating effective use of CI principles including coaching and leadership skills
• A Logical thinker

Preferred qualifications:

• Degree in a Science or Engineering based subject
• Chartered status or be working towards achievement of Chartership within Engineering
• Experience and knowledge of various dose form technologies
