Job Purpose
The EHS team advise on legal requirements affecting EHS on the site. They promote and where appropriate, participate in the delivery of EHS education programmes to raise safety consciousness at all levels within the factory. This team set EHS standards for all staff, and “walk the talk”. They are therefore required to be a good role model.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides information about accident and all types of incident prevention to line managers to assist them with their investigations.
Assists in the up keep of the 5 Steps database and drive the timely closure of unusual incident reports (UIRs) and EHS investigations.
Assessing possible causes of injury and circumstances likely to produce an accident, Tendering of advice to prevent recurrence.
Lead and contribute to level 1 and 2 EHS audits, and provide support to the site during level 3 and 4 Audits.
Maintaining liaison with other business areas and with outside bodies such as HSE and SEPA.
Keeping up to date with modern processes and techniques, with special reference to EHS.
Support the EHS Lead and other EHS team members to ensure EHS is maintained to a high standard on site.
Liaison with Internal and external EHS consultants.
Ability to influence management decisions.
Supports EHS Lead in devising strategic opportunities to enhance environmental issues on the site.
Contributes and supports a learning environment for EHS topics, to all staff on site.
Able to represent the EHS team on project matters.
Network with other EHS staff from within GSK, to share good practice.
Network with outside Industry and Trade Bodies.
Assists in the maintenance of the site EHS Legal Register(s)

Desired profile
Basic qualifications:
Can demonstrate competence in and previous experience of direct interfacing with external regulator authorities e.g. HSE, SEPA
Organisational planning ability with a pragmatic approach to defining problems, resolving conflict, and developing practical solutions
Good communication and presentation skills ; able to interact with and influence individuals across a variety of functions (without a direct reporting relationship)
Understands own limitations and knows when to ask for help
At least 3 years experience of working in Pharmaceutical or similar type of industry.
Good working knowledge of the core SEPA and general HSE legislation.
Preferred qualifications:
Professional qualification in H+S, Risk Management and / or Environmental studies required e.g. NEBOSH level 6 level.
Able to influence
Understanding of the main EHS Laws, Regulations, Codes of Practice that apply to the Montrose site.
Working knowledge of site's PPC license (Pollution Prevention Control) issued by the SEPA (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency)
Understanding of COMAH legislation (Control Of Major Accident Hazards) issued by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive)
Working knowledge of the site's emergency and change management procedures
May be educated to degree standard.
Able to demonstrate good people and communication skills.
Able to coach and mentor
