Job description
Your Responsibilities :
The successful candidate will work in the computational biology group at Cellzome focusing on analysis and interpretation of next generation sequencing data for functional genomics applications. Cellzome, a GSK company, is located in Heidelberg, Germany and provides an interdisciplinary working environment focusing on omics technologies and data analysis. Cellzome works in close collaboration with computational groups and research units across GSK to provide decision making data from omics experiments.
We are looking for a talented, motivated, and analytical-minded scientist, who combines exceptional scientific and technical skills with team spirit. We require a PhD in the computational sciences or in the life sciences with a strong background in bioinformatics or statistics. Experience in NGS analysis and proficiency in a statistical programming language are highly desirable. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and the ability to communicate complex informatics principles, methods, analyses and results to scientists from diverse backgrounds. Key areas of responsibility include: providing expertise in NGS data analysis, experimental design and biological interpretation.

Basic qualifications:
• PhD in Computational biology, bioinformatics, computational sciences, or biomedical/biological sciences.
• Strong experience in NGS data analysis
• Experience in a programming language (such as R, or Python) for complex data analysis.
• Knowledge of fundamental concepts in biology and statistics.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
Preferred qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in processing and analysis of next generation sequencing data including single cell analysis
• Experience in analysis of gunctional genomics: Gene editing, CRISPR in phenotypic screens with OMIC/imaging readouts.
• Familiarity with genome-wide genetic, genomic, pathway and network methods.
• Familiarity with common bioinformatics databases, resources and tools.
• Skills to collect, integrate, mine and analyze complex biological data and translate them into testable hypotheses.
• Experience in analyzing data sets related to oncology or/and immunology would be a plus.
