Biopharm Discovery is a department dedicated to the discovery of novel and effective biopharmaceutical medicines. This department comprises several complementary functions focused on the progression of a portfolio of biopharmaceuticals from initial antibody discovery, expression and characterisation to molecular engineering and biological and physiochemical profiling.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated Antibody Discovery Scientist to join Biopharm Discovery within a state-of-the-art and world-leading R&D Facility. The role will be lab-centric and will involve the identification and optimisation of antibodies using techniques for designing and engineering variants to optimise antibody quality and function, using phage and yeast display and in vivo antibody discovery technologies.
Although predominantly lab-based, the role also involves important aspects of verbal and written communication and requires good organisation as well as a broader scientific knowledge. Both individual and team working are required, and the role will suit a scientist with good interpersonal skills that enjoys working in a collaborative manner.

Why You?
Basic qualifications:
• PhD or equivalent practical work experience in a relevant field of molecular biology or biotechnology, with a track record of impactful work
• Ability to perform a wide range of molecular biology techniques such as PCR, basic sequence analysis, various cloning techniques
• Experience of antibody selections techniques; such as phage and/or yeast display, or library selection/screening-based protein engineering techniques
• Track record of contributing to new research directions and/or novel scientific strategies
• Ability to perform complex data interpretation to design next logical experiment.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting (written & presentation) and experimental lab book write-ups.
• Quick to learn the use of lab instrumentation and new experimental techniques.
• Experience of effective team and matrix working in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work across multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred qualifications:
• Cytometry techniques such as Flow/FACS
• Experience with yeast and mammalian cell culture.
• Strong IT skills and experience with integrating datasets from multiple sources
