Apply the technical skills necessary to maintain, repair and/or restore all major components of both automated and non-automated machinery throughout the facility. Perform general maintenance of manufacturing, support equipment and office facilities with minimal supervision.
1. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles, wiring specifications, local and national electrical code properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
2. Plans details of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and determines a logical approach to repair problems.
3. Services electronic equipment by checking, testing and replacing faulty components, circuit modules, printed circuit boards, vacuum tubes, and similar electronic devices.
4. Performs plant-wide electronic and electrical maintenance, making operating adjustments as required.
5. Makes sketches of parts and layout. Designs and constructs adaptations of components parts or standard parts, as required.
6. Maintains and installs communication cables, power, distribution cables and wiring and performs splicing as required.
7. Fabricates parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
8. Informs group leader or supervisor and line mechanics of potentially dangerous electrical equipment and corrective actions taken.
9. Receives wiring diagrams and piping layouts, instrumentation drawings, specifications and instructions concerning repair, installation and inspection work to be performed. Applies knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to determine equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.
10. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electronic instrument theory and principles, pneumatic and piping systems, wiring specifications, local and national electrical codes, and properties of various materials.
11. Plans details of working procedure and determines a logical approach to repair problems.
12. Services instrument and electronic equipment by checking, testing and replacing faulty components, circuit modules, printed circuit boards and similar devices.
13. Performs all types of instrument and electronic maintenance, making operating adjustments as required.
14. Designs and constructs adaptations of component parts or standard parts, as required.
15. Fabricates parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
16. Informs supervisor and line mechanics of potentially dangerous electrical equipment observed, or faulty instrumentation and corrective actions taken.
17. Maintains company required performance and maintenance records for instrumentation and electronic equipment.
18. The incumbent must follow and adhere to proper Arch Flash procedure and Personal Protective Equipment.
19. May sub for shift electricians as directed.
20. May provide technical direction to electricians and helpers as required.
21. Comply with ISO Quality Policies as it pertains to the company and job.
22. Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for electronic and electrical equipment
23. Responsible for maintaining the workstation, per 5S guidelines, which includes maintaining a clean and organized work area.
24. Place waste in appropriate designated, labeled containers and makes sure lids are properly closed after disposal of waste. Examples of waste are: Contaminated rags, empty aerosol cans, defective lime, etc.
25. Report abnormal conditions, such as overflowing barrels and missing identification labels to supervisor in charge.
26. Perform SMAT audits when required thought out the year.
27. Perform “One Minute to Think” before starting any assigned job task.
28. Able to read PPE assessment forms and comply with PPE requirements.
29. Bring to management’s attention any Environmental, Health and Safety alerts throughout the year by submitting a safety alert form.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; therefore protection is required as indicated in the PPE sheet. Other PPE requirements include safety glasses and steel toe shoes.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift from floor to knuckle and shoulder to overhead. The employee is frequently required to lift from knuckle to shoulder.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear and smell. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, push, pull and carry; reach with hands and arms, kneel and climb or balance and use arm controls.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop or crouch and use foot controls.
The employee needs to be able to use and maintain the usage of respirator and maintain the annual certification for its usage.
The employee is required to wear FR (flame retardant) uniforms provided by Saint-Gobain Abrasives.
