Software Engineering Manager

Exciting opportunity for a Software Engineering Manager to lead, grow and develop a Software Engineering team. This role will be based in Powys, close to the Shropshire border area commutable from Newtown, Welshpool, Oswestry, Shrewsbury.

The Software Engineering Manager will have a broad and deep understanding of Software Engineering with a strong commercial awareness. Also experienced in Team Management and having excellent interpersonal skills.

The Software Engineering Manager will work on project delivery, service provision and product development.

Software Engineering Manager

Line management for the Software Team includingidentifying and providing technical training needs for staff
Pre-Sales activities
Working with other Engineering Managers, Project Management and Software Engineers to deliver projects, services and products.
Responsible for the quality of technical solutions delivered by the software engineering team and accountable for
delivering work packages such as detailed designs, implementations and test specifications to agreed targets.
After Sales activities

Key skills –

Oversee design, development and test of Object Orientated and procedural solutions for implementation in C++ and C on Embedded Linux and C, C#, .NET on Windows.
Excellent understanding of Product and Software Development lifecycles
Software Configuration Management
Production of Technical Specification

Desirable skills –

Woking knowledge of UML and / or SysML
Good understanding of V-Model, Waterfall and Agile
Expert in one or more of the following - C, C++, C#
DOOR’s, Bugzilla, Subversion
Linux server administration
Embedded platforms

Experience / qualifications

5 years plus experience
A degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject e.g. Electronics, Software or Computer Science

My client offers a diverse range of product development and projects, There will be some level of travel - UK and International.
