Goldman Sachs is seeking innovative, problem solving team members to help build and grow its digital, direct to consumer business. The team will leverage Goldman’s financial services expertise and core competencies in technology, analytics and risk management in addition to strong balance sheet capabilities to create a winning position in the market. While benefiting from the strengths of a large company, the team operates in a start-up environment unburdened by legacy costs and fixed infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to be a founding team member of a new business line within one of the leading companies in the financial services industry while delivering value to consumers through differentiated products and user experiences.

Responsibilities:

As a UX designer you will be responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience for our brand new consumer offering.  This role plays an important and influential role for the business, working closely with product managers, developers and stakeholders to bring the product to life. We are seeking a mix of skill sets - including information architecture, wireframing, visual design, interaction design, and prototyping – to a startup-like product development environment.
• Turn complex problems into simple and engaging customer experiences for the web, iPad/iPhone, and Android
• Create wireframes, workflows, storyboards, and navigation maps that deliver a seamless user experience.
• Effectively communicate and defend design choices, advocating for the customer
• Collaborate with product managers and developers to understand objectives and constraints
• Partner with UX researchers to design and observe user studies and translate research findings into insights and design improvements

Basic Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in interaction or user experience design
• Strong portfolio of work showcasing engaging user-centered design solutions
• Ability to think strategically and translate requirements into effective solutions
• Open to critique with a curiosity to learn from diverse perspectives
• Must be self-motivated, a good communicator, comfortable following direction, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines.
• A solid understanding of usability principles, user-centered design methods, and interaction design patterns.
• Self-driven, highly motivated, collaborative
• Passion for user experience and application design
• Experience operating with Agile teams

Preferred Qualifications

Not required, but a plus:
• Formal academic background in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or related field
• Fluency with common design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Keynote) for the creation of visual design artifacts and presentations
• Practical understanding of the latest technologies used to build rich user experiences (Eg. HTML 5, JavaScript and CSS preprocessing frameworks)
