Divisional Overview
Goldman Sachs’ systematic market making business unit is a world leader in developing quantitative and technological techniques to solve complex business problems. Working within the firm’s sales, banking and investment management divisions, traders and strats use their mathematical and scientific training to manage risk, advise clients on transactions, measure risk, and identify market opportunities.

Job Summary & Responsibilities
• Help oversee the firm’s risk originating from systematic market making business  
• Work with sales and strats to expand overall franchise business
• Use statistical techniques to analyse, measure, and optimize electronic trading strategies
• Acquire, clean, maintain and analyse data sets to identify trends & patterns
• Work as part of a global team
• Implement software using GS-proprietary technologies and Java

Basic Qualifications
Successful members of our team hold Bachelors, Masters and/or Doctoral degrees in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) discipline.  We are interested in bright individuals who have advanced mathematical and computational backgrounds, a willingness to learn about finance and who possess skills in the following areas:
• Technology: experience in data analysis using R/matlab and/or sql/kdb
• Finance: understanding of market dynamics and conventions, and of different products’ behaviours and specifications
• Mathematics: understanding of time series analysis, statistics, data mining and numerical techniques

Preferred Qualifications
• At least 1 year of experience in a securities front-office environment
• Top candidate from a leading academic institution
• Strong communication skills
• Analyst or Associate level
