Job Summary & Responsibilities

The European Special Situations Group ("ESSG") within the Securities Division is looking for an Analyst / Associate with an interest in fundamental/ value investing to join its Liquid Investing team.

ESSG is a multi-strategy investing and lending group within the Securities Division. ESSG focuses primarily on stressed, distressed, and special situation opportunities.  

The Liquid Investing team focuses on corporate/ micro investments in secondary situations in both public and private instruments including loans, bonds, equity, CDS etc.

Role and Responsibilities
• The role involves analysing existing and new investment opportunities across the capital structure. As part of a collaborative team effort, the candidate will be expected to contribute to and progress investment ideas based on thorough fundamental analysis

• The role is highly analytical with emphasis on valuation, financial modeling, analysis of financial accounts, legal documentation and involvement in negotiations as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum one year relevant work experience in investment banking or an investing role

• Ideal candidate would have a demonstrated interest and aptitude for evaluating and recommending investments through professional experience and/or personal interest

• Strong quantitative, financial modelling, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Commercial and analytical in nature with an understanding of businesses and financial markets

• Ability to understand, dissect, and distil complex situations quickly

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Confident communication and good interpersonal skills (i.e. team orientation)

• Solid work ethic and high levels of motivation

• An excellent academic record. At a minimum a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification

• Fluency in European language(s) is helpful
