Divisional Overview
Goldman Sachs’ Strats business unit is a world leader in developing quantitative and technological solutions to solve complex business problems. Working within the firm’s trading, sales, banking and investment management divisions, Strats use their mathematical and scientific training to create financial products, advise clients on transactions, measure risk, and identify market opportunities.

The Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group (SSG) is a global multi-asset class investing business. SSG, through AmSSG, ESSG and ASSG, focuses on investing the firm’s capital across all levels of corporate capital structures and in numerous other investment activities seeking optimal returns on a risk adjusted basis.

Job Summary and Responsibilities
SSG Strategies group focuses on modeling, portfolio valuation, and risk management.  We are looking for an individual to work with the other members of the team in developing pricing models, risk management tools, and potential hedging strategies for the related businesses.

Key responsibilities:
• Developing macro risk management and portfolio hedging strategies for global SSG portfolio.
• Analyzing large data sets to develop the frameworks for risk management for SSG portfolio business.
• Developing pricing models for Real Estate and non-performing loan portfolios.
• Developing capital allocation framework.
• Developing portfolio management system and risk reports.

Basic Qualifications

• Strong quantitative and mathematical background.
• Strong academic background in a relevent field - (e.g. PHD in Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical fields.)
• Ability to develop analytical solutions and implement them in computer code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial focus, team orientated, self motivated.
