European Special Situations Group (ESSG) is an investing and lending business focused on providing capital to companies in both private and public markets. The group specializes in fundamental value analysis and has a number of private capital investment strategies which include middle market direct lending, investing in asset intensive industries, portfolios of assets, and distressed credit. Across strategies, the group focuses on leveraging its deep industry knowledge and fundamental credit, distressed, corporate, and asset valuation techniques to create attractive risk adjusted returns.
HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL
In this role, you would work as a sourcing and execution professional; in extending loans to middle market companies in private lending transactions. The role will require versatility to work across multiple industries in performing diligence and financial modeling coupled with deep value credit analysis. The role will include assessing credit quality and appropriate pricing in extending loans as well as versatility in ability to asset manage those loans once they have been extended.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Strong academic record with minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline required
- Must have previous investment banking experience with a focus on Credit / Distressed Debt Investments
- Superior financial modeling (e.g. LBO) and fundamental analysis knowledge required
- Must have significant experience of researching and reviewing investment opportunities and presenting these to investment committees
- Experience in all aspects of trade executing required - this should include conducting due diligence, documentation and pricing
- Experience managing portfolio companies, including monitoring operational and financial performance required
- Must be a proficient user of MS Office applications especially Excel
- Knowledge of Capital IQ required
- Must be a highly motivated, entrepreneurial and team-oriented individual
- Strong combination of organisational and interpersonal/communication skills essential
- Must have keen interest in financial markets and good commercial instincts
- Problem solving skills essential
