Job description

Job Summary & Responsibilities

DIVISIONAL OVERVIEW
Goldman Sachs’ Strats business unit is a world leader in developing quantitative and technological techniques to solve complex business problems. Working within the firm’s trading, sales, banking and investment management divisions, strats use their mathematical and scientific training to create financial products, advise clients on transactions, measure risk, and identify market opportunities.

Roles within Securities Strats
Securities Strats play important roles in several areas. Some Strats sit on trading desks, creating cutting-edge derivative pricing models and developing empirical models to provide insight into market behavior. Others develop automated trading algorithms for the firm and its clients, taking an active part in the increasing shift from voice to electronic trading. A third group works directly with the firm’s sales force and clients, analyzing exposures, structuring transactions, and applying quantitative concepts to meet client needs. The work involves developing a thorough understanding of the full range of investment products and strategies offered by the firm, an ability to capture the characteristics of those investments in mathematical models and the creation of infrastructure to make those analyses reusable and scalable across our businesses.

Systematic Trading Strategies
The Systematic Trading Strategies (STS) business is a global Strat team responsible for building cutting-edge systematic “index” products—liquid, transparent, and investible vehicles that provide clients with cutting-edge access to market risk factors and trading strategies.

Job Summary:
Join the STS Strats team to work with and develop models and analytics that enable creation, analysis, and risk management of systematic strategies and indices for investors covering the different asset classes. Enjoy a widely scoped role that covers the full spectrum of the index development cycle, from idea conceptualization to implementation, quantitative strategy analysis to methodology documentation, facilitating custom solutions for clients while working within a robust and scalable product framework.

Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include driving innovation through product development and backtesting, helping facilitate transactions by working with sales teams to engage with clients on their product goals, and ongoing maintenance of products and client relationships through quantitative tools to understand the drivers of strategy performance.
You will establish and build-on partnerships with colleagues across the STS business and associated sales teams
