Job Summary & Responsibilities
For this position, we are looking for an Analyst or Associate in the Equity & Fund Derivatives Structuring team within the firm’s Strats Group. The Equity & Fund Derivatives Structuring team sits in between the Securities Division sales & trading teams. The team focuses on developing and structuring financial products linked to equity and fund underlyers and marketing these to clients in the EMEA region. These products include derivatives (e.g. structured notes) and systematic trading strategies.
A successful Candidate will:
• Interact with sales and clients as a product specialist
• Execute structured transactions which involves working with various parts of the firm (e.g. sales, trading, strats, legal, compliance)
• Create marketing material and generic & transaction-specific analysis
DIVISIONAL OVERVIEW
Goldman Sachs’ Strats business unit is a world leader in developing quantitative and technological techniques to solve complex business problems. Working within the firm’s trading, sales, banking and investment management divisions, strats use their mathematical and scientific training to create financial products, advise clients on transactions, measure risk, and identify market opportunities.
Roles within Securities Strats
Securities Strats play important roles in several areas. Some Strats sit on trading desks, creating cutting-edge derivative pricing models and developing empirical models to provide insight into market behavior. Others develop automated trading algorithms for the firm and its clients, taking an active part in the increasing shift from voice to electronic trading. A third group (Structuring & Sales Strats) works directly with the firm’s sales force and clients, analyzing exposures, structuring transactions, and applying quantitative concepts to meet client needs. The work involves developing a thorough understanding of the full range of investment products and strategies offered by the firm, an ability to capture the characteristics of those investments in mathematical models and the creation of infrastructure to make those analyses reusable and scalable across our businesses.
Basic Qualifications
• Strong academic background in Finance, ideally with quantitative angle – (Quantitative) Finance/Economics, Financial Mathematics/Engineering
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint); (VBA) Programming skills would be useful
• Ideally, the candidate has worked 2-4y in an investment bank in a role where he/she gained relevant experience
• Interest in financial markets/products
