Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) group in Goldman Sachs Asset Management is responsible for managing client assets, and is a market leader in quantitative portfolio management, global tactical asset allocation, and tax-aware investment strategies. We are currently looking for candidates who will excel at formulating trade ideas, conducting rigorous quantitative research, and managing equity portfolios.

The ideal candidate is passionate about investment and motivated to outperform the market. We welcome individuals who are excited by the prospect of combining creative insights with extensive research to make good investment decisions. Strong programming skills, solid understanding of statistics, familiarity working with data, and an innate drive to outperform are required.

Responsibilities:
• Alpha research: Generate creative research ideas, explore new datasets, conduct rigorous analysis, and implement quantitative trading models
• Portfolio management: Assume full responsibility for alpha model, portfolio construction, and performance. Oversee day to day systematic trade generation and execution

Basic Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in quantitative equity research/investing
• Creativity and ability to think outside of the box
• Passion for equity investment
• Intuitive understanding of market sentiment, dislocations, and movements
• Broad understanding of academic literature in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, computer science, and other areas
• Solid understanding of statistics, linear algebra, and calculus
• Strong programming skills (i.e. Ruby, Python, Perl, Matlab, R, C++, Java, or other languages)
• Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence is preferred
• Knowledge of fundamental investing is preferred (i.e. discounted cash flows, competitive analysis, financial statement analysis, etc.)
