The Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) group in Goldman Sachs Asset Management is responsible for managing client assets, and is a market leader in quantitative portfolio management, global tactical asset allocation, and tax-aware investment strategies. We are currently looking for candidates who will excel at formulating trade ideas, conducting rigorous quantitative research, and managing equity portfolios.
The ideal candidate is passionate about investment and motivated to outperform the market. We welcome individuals who are excited by the prospect of combining creative insights with extensive research to make good investment decisions. Strong programming skills, solid understanding of statistics, familiarity working with data, and an innate drive to outperform are required.
Responsibilities:
• Portfolio management: Assume responsibility for day to day account optimization, portfolio construction, and oversee trade execution
• Work closely with sales force to create customized solutions for wealthy families and other taxable investors
• Perform trades for cash management and FX to support large cash flows and international rebalancing
• Attribution analysis to explain performance of accounts and strategies to existing clients and sales teams
• Research improvements to business and workflow from collaboration with Technologists and Strategists
Basic Qualifications
• 1-2 years of experience in quantitative investing preferred (but not required)
• Creativity and ability to think outside of the box
• Passion for equity investment and interest in the markets
• High degree of attention to detail and time management skills
• Broad understanding of academic literature in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, computer science, and other areas
• Solid understanding of statistics, linear algebra, and calculus
• Strong programming skills (i.e. Ruby, Python, Perl, Matlab, R, C++, Java, or other languages)
• Proven success working in a team environment
