Job Summary & Responsibilities

The MPFG team is responsible for portfolio management of Fund of Funds and related execution of underlying fund and fx.
In addition the team also carries out the overnight cash investment for all GSAM Japan funds.
All executions done in Tokyo is centralized to MPFG.  

The MPFG team have a wide and deep level of interaction with other Portfolio Management and Trading teams globally as well as Sales, Operations, Products, Compliance and Technology team.
This role offers a unique opportunity to join one of the world’s premier Asset Management firms and to gain insight and understanding about overall process of clients’ investment, product structure and business development.

• Plan and execute of Fund of Fund trades, investing in domestic Japanese funds and offshore funds
• Plan and execute FX spot trades
• Monitor FX hedging positions and execute FX forward trades, including rolling of hedge positions periodically
• Manage surplus cash in Mutual Funds in the money market
• Work with IT team to define and create Technology solutions to improve our execution capability
• Work with wider business teams on launch of a new fund, restructuring a fund or providing solutions to various needs of client’s portfolio
• Provide support to other geographic GSAM locations, including the execution of fund of fund transactions

Basic Qualifications

• 2 – 3 years of experience in trade execution or FoF portfolio management  
• Good communication and writing skills both in Japanese and English  (needs to understand Japanese regulations & laws)
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with people at all levels both internally (i.e. Sales,
Portfolio Managers, Regional offices, Compliance/Legal, and IT team) and externally (i.e. cash broker firm).
• Team-oriented and self-motivated
• Strong organizational skills with flexibility and ability to set own priorities
• Judgement and problem solving skill
• PC Skills: Excel, Word and Power Point

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of mutual funds and/or alternative investment products is preferred
