GSAM’s Emerging Market team is seeking a Corporate Credit Analyst (Analyst or Associate level) to perform fundamental (bottoms-up) analysis on companies in Emerging Markets. The Emerging Market Corporate Credit Analyst will be an integral part of GSAM’s Emerging Markets team, which manages over $30bn of dedicated EM assets. The Credit Analyst will be responsible for analyzing credits in a number of industries, performing due diligence, modeling and presenting investment ideas; monitoring credits and assessing relative value based on risk vs. return in a range of different portfolio strategies.
Responsibilities:
• Analyzing issuers via financial modeling, accounting review, covenant analysis, assessment of management’s communications, assessment of third-party research, and interacting with management and sell-side analysts, among others
• Recommending investments across a range of portfolios (with e.g. different risk appetites, restrictions), defending those recommendations in both oral and written communication
• Performing ongoing due diligence and monitoring of portfolio positions and key credits, and communicating updates in a timely fashion (orally and in writing)
• Working with economists on the Emerging Markets team to assess the relevant economic and political risks the companies may face
• Working with the Corporate Credit team to identify global relative value and share investment ideas
Basic Qualifications
• Pre or Post MBA with solid experience in financial sector
• Prior experience in investing or credit analysis or a related discipline (accounting, banking, financial modeling) is strongly preferred
• Solid accounting and finance knowledge with a keen ability to analyze financial statements
• Strong financial modeling skills with good mathematical grounding
• Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
Preferred Qualifications
• Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin language skills strongly preferred because this role involves interaction with Chinese clients
• Self-starter and resourceful with a passion for investing
• CFA study (at any level) a plus
