Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Real Estate Financing Group in Los Angeles is seeking an Analyst to join the Loan Origination team. Successful candidate will provide analytical support to commercial real estate Loan Origination teams in accordance with the firm’s underwriting guidelines. Primary focus is supporting the initial underwriting process and developing the skills and experience necessary for promotion to Associate or Vice President.
Provide assistance to the Loan Origination team in the underwriting, closing and securitization of commercial real estate mortgage loans. Primary responsibility for establishment and maintenance of loan files. Input required data into the underwriting model for review by the Loan Origination teams. Work with Loan Origination teams to identify and resolve all potential underwriting, securitization and credit issues. Interact with brokers, borrowers, originators and third-party report providers regarding information and documentation required for the closing process as directed by the Loan Origination teams.
Basic Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Those with a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and with at least two years of relevant work experience, will be considered. Masters of Business Administration or Masters in Real Estate preferred.
Ability to speak effectively and persuasively to Senior Management, Mortgage Bankers, and Borrowers. Analyze and interpret documents such as Leases, Mortgage Term Sheets, Deeds of Trust, Mortgage Notes and procedure manuals. Write effective and persuasive internal correspondence and Capital Committee presentations.
Strong algebra skills are a plus. Ability to operate a financial calculator as well as apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Identify risks and structure creative solutions to hedge against these risks.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge or familiarity with TREPP, CoStar, Bloomberg, ARGUS, SNL or other commercial real estate-specific research reports is a plus.
