Job Summary & Responsibilities

Underwrite and close commercial real estate loans in accordance with firm underwriting guidelines for CMBS issuance. Associate activities should be focused on compliance with guidelines, resolution of credit or underwriting issues, loan profitability and credit quality, timeliness and efficiency of loan closings and accuracy and completeness of loan presentation materials for securitization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assume overall deal responsibility for the closing and securitization for all loans assigned. Review and coordinate the activities of the Analysts assigned to provide support on each deal. Prepare credit committee packages and present loans for approval. Coordinate with legal counsel in the preparation and negotiation of loan documents as it pertains to significant business issues or credit structures. Primary interface with borrowers, brokers, originators and third party vendors regarding information and documentation required for the closing process. Coordinate closing activities with Legal and Closing groups to ensure timely and efficient closing. Responsible for the completion, review and presentation of the credit file for each loan ensuring that it is accurate, supports the credit decision rendered and provides adequate documentation for securitization. Prepare Asset Summary Reviews for securitization. Answer rating agency and investor questions that arise during securitization. Prepare final underwriting and all supporting cashflow footnotes.

Basic Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the MINIMUM knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters of Business Administration or Masters in Real Estate or equivalent are preferred. Those with a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, preferably with a major in Real Estate or Finance and at least 3 - 5 years of related Real Estate or Finance experience and/or training will also be considered; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from brokers, borrowers, regulatory agencies, or members of other entities of the parent company. Effectively present information to Senior Management, Mortgage Bankers and Borrowers.

MATHEMATICAL & REASONING SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Preferred Qualifications

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES: Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word and some database software. Strong time-management and organization skills are necessary. Knowledge or familiarity with TREPP, CoStar, ARGUS, SNL or other commercial real estate-specific research reports is a plus.
