Department Summary
Strats Compliance is a niche team of professionals in New York / New Jersey within the Electronic Trading Compliance Group that plays a central role in Compliance Division’s strategy and is responsible for helping the Firm to manage its regulatory, operational and reputational risk related to electronic trading activities. This is a global team that works across U.S., EMEA, and Asia and covers all electronic trading products in the Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Forex and Futures markets.
Role Description
This role provides broad exposure to individuals across products, market structures across the globe, various algorithmic trading strategies and supporting technology systems. The team does in-depth analysis of order flows across different types of electronic trading activities, such as market making, risk facilitation and agency trading. The role challenges the individuals to become subject matter expert in the electronic markets, understand business and regulatory concerns and devise automated control mechanisms to improve our control structure.
This individual’s responsibilities will include
- Understanding business context and activity profile (e.g., securities traded, order types, software systems, testing infrastructure)
- Evaluating control design and effectiveness through code reviews and other mechanisms
- Evaluating design of regression tests, devising scenarios to evaluate a range of conditions, including extreme market movements and boundary cases
- Sharing leading practices with Business, Technology and Compliance teams
- Provide thought leadership to review, analyze impact of and implement controls for new e-trading regulatory requirements (e.g., MiFID II, FX Code of Conduct)
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor or Masters in applicable field e.g. computer science, computational finance etc.
- 2+ years of experience in code development
- Experience in testing is preferred
- Experience in algorithmic trading technology is an advantage
- Motivated and capable of independently performing code reviews
- Knowledge of C/C++/Java and familiarity with Boost/JUnit is preferable
- Ability to effectively review and analyze strategies and apply judgment to resolve issues
- General understanding of a wide range of financial products
