Job Summary & Responsibilities
GSAM Consultant Relations is responsible for working with the investment consultants that advise institutional investors. We work with these consultants to position GSAM’s investment strategies and create a pipeline of business for the sales teams. You will work closely with the regional institutional sales teams and product teams on business development where clients are advised by consultants. Investment consultants play a central role in a number of markets across EMEA, particularly in the UK.
The role will be based in London although we would expect the individual to undertake some travel around the UK and, where appropriate, in Continental Europe.
Skills / Experience
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
• A passion to achieve a high degree of technical knowledge about the products you represent
• Good commercial instincts
• Keen interest in financial markets, investing and pensions
• Ability to multi-task complicated projects under time pressure
• Extremely comfortable working in a team where information sharing and support of one another is essential
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Positive relationships with investment consultants based in the UK is an advantage
• Good working knowledge of pension frameworks is an advantage
• Second European language is an advantage
We would expect this individual to have at least 3 years work experience in a profession where a number of these skills are also required
Principal Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with investment consultants that advise institutional investors
• Have primary and secondary coverage of different GSAM product areas. This involves: understanding current consultant advice models; establishing solid relationships with all relevant investment consultants; and managing internal communication with GSAM teams around the world
• Responsible for project-managing operational due diligence requests across all GSAM products
• Take the lead on events, conferences or marketing initiatives
• Jointly responsible for growing relationships, which can lead to opportunities, with non-global consultant firms
• Work closely with institutional sales teams to jointly-cover consultants
• Keep up to date with developments in asset management and work with internal teams to understand future initiatives which may be relevant
• Train and mentor less experienced members of the team
