Job description
Background
The Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme is a collaborative 2 year full-time programme of work, training and academic study unique to Wales, designed and delivered by leading financial services organisations in order to develop a talent pool of industry professionals.
Participating employers include Principality Building Society, Admiral, Atradius, GM Financial, BBC Finance Centre of Excellence, Finance Wales, Optimum Credit, ERS (Swansea) and Composite Legal Expenses.
We are looking to recruit 40 exceptional individuals who can demonstrate a passion and commitment to working within the financial services sector with the drive, personality and tenacity to successfully complete an intensive 2 years of work, training and academic study. You will undertake 4 work placements of 6 months duration from September 2015 until August 2017 within the partner companies providing the opportunity to sample different cultures and a wide range of job roles such as risk/underwriting, commercial account management, product development, business analysis, project management, IT, finance, financial control, credit risk, research, HR, marketing, etc. You will be involved in challenging projects and gain exposure to clients from day one. The programme will give you confidence, depth of knowledge, transferable skills, highly valuable work experience, Masters in Financial Services Management qualification and the opportunity to apply for permanent job openings as they arise. You will also have the opportunity to plan and deliver a Welsh National Finance Conference in December 2016 to encourage students to develop a career within the industry.
Locations: Cardiff, Nantgarw or Swansea
Remuneration: £14,500 + fully funded MSc qualification
Eligibility
- 2.1 degree in any discipline and ability to pass entry level tests and;
- Live or work in Wales and;
- Possess an NI number and be able to work in UK and;
- Ability to write and speak fluent English
Personal Skills
We looking for candidates with the following attributes:
- The confidence and sound judgement and the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise tasks
- The ability and willingness to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
- The ability to absorb technical information and an analytical mind
- High level of numeracy, the ability to analyse financial data and an understanding of basic economics
- Candidates who can demonstrate professional behaviour / etiquette within a commercial environment.
Start Date: 1st September 2015 - 31st August 2017.
