Job Description Summary
The Wastewater Operator will perform overall operation and maintenance of our industrial waste treatment plant, controlling the acid neutralization / chemical precipitation process in accordance with permit discharge parameters. Additionally they will be responsible for monitoring the storage and mixing of chemicals used in manufacturing process prior to wastewater operations.Job Description
What you'll do
- Operate the equipment in treatment plant to control flow and processing of discharged material
- Monitor system controls and adjust valves manually or by remote control to regulate flow of effluent discharge
- Observe operating conditions, interpret control readings, and tests results to control flow of influent waters through filtering, flocculation and clarification processes
- Maintain operation log and records flow, PH, and discharge readings
- Collect samples and perform routine tests and analyses
- Carry out and complete routine maintenance functions and housekeeping in the waste treatment area
- Monitor waste acid storage tanks and ensure that waste processing is on pace with production needs
- Monitor raw acid storage tanks to ensure integrity of containments for safe storage practices
- Perform automated acid mixing and monitor process acid storage tanks to enable manufacturing production
- Receive and oversee bulk chemical deliveries
- Perform, as assigned, other similar or related duties
What you will bring
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years operating experience in industrial wastewater plant
- Basic computer skills (email)
Eligibility Requirements
- Ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work 2nd shift hours
- Ability to work overtime as required including occasional weekend shift.
- Willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes

What will make you stand out
- Completion of NJDEP industrial wastewater training course
- NJDEP Industrial Wastewater Operators license N2 desired
- Advanced RCRA hazardous waste training.
- GE certification or equivalent in D.O.T. hazardous waste transportation laws
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to learn quickly with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a cross functional team
- Demonstrates positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self-motivation
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical skills.
- Has strong ethical standards and integrity
The base hourly pay range for this position is $27 -$37 hr. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10% shift differential.
