Role Summary/Purpose
As a Sr. UX Design Technologist you will bridge the gap between Design and Technology. You understand the importance of human-centered design and the implication of technology on experiences. As a UX Design Technologist you will execute on multiple small to medium sized projects as an individual contributor with a focus on at least one specialized technology domain.
Essential Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
· Participate as a team member in design validation sessions; execute design technology tasks as assigned in detail
· Execute on multiple small and medium sized projects as assigned in a cross-functional environment
· Demonstrate awareness of the software development process and how UX designers can best support development efforts
· Clearly understand and articulate the team's point of view in broader context
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Design or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
· 2 to 5 years of professional experience OR Master's degree with 2 years of experience
· GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed
Eligibility Requirements:
· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
· Must be willing to travel (20%)
· Must be willing to work out of an office located in Boston, MA
Desired Characteristics
· Advanced knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and principals of responsive design
· Able to create moderately interactive prototypes (in code) to express interactive design ideas based upon user and stakeholder input and feedback.
· Able to independently translate designs (e.g. wireframes, mockups, and requirements documents) to engineering teams
Technical Expertise:
· Understands the challenges and complexities of creating a solutions suite of micro applications (E.g., Create modular assets that can be configured for different user workflows and customer outcomes)
· Must grasp key concepts of data acquisition and data visualization
· Able to assist with the translation of designs (e.g. wireframes, mockups, and requirements documents) to engineering teams
· Understands the concept of rapid / proof of concept prototyping and when appropriate to use front-end presentation or full stack solutions (e.g., spikes/prototypes)
· Advanced knowledge developing front-end solutions. Must have expertise in development applications Polymer, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and principals of responsive design
· Strong understanding of one server-side language - (e.g. Python, Java, PHP, etc.)

· Understands industry knowledge at a high level.
· Understands key principles of design thinking, what it is and why it is important, and how technology can be used in the process to explore possibilities. Explores all ideas, regardless of their source.
· Understands that designing, developing and deploying products and services for infrastructure-level domains requires attention to the complex behavior and relationship within and between systems.
Leadership:
· Assists with the translation of user-centered design requirements into technical implementations for solutions (E.g., Assists in creation of technically complex user flows and wireframes)
· Communicates clearly the purpose and desired outcomes of meetings
· Understands the purpose and role of user experience within a larger collaborative work ecosystem and actively considers the needs and constraints of projects when making technical recommendations

· Defines objectives, problems and questions and gathers appropriate inputs before generating and evaluating solutions and answers
· Identifies when additional information is needed from customer/manager and asks cogent and relevant questions to obtain it
