Role Summary/Purpose
The Repair Technology team is responsible for the creation of methods, processes and tools that are utilized to install, maintain and service Wind Turbines. The Uptower Repair Technologist will develop repair processes for Uptower field repair scopes including gearboxes, generators, main bearings, main shafts, brake and couplings. In addition to NPI repair / tooling development programs, the Engineer will also support emergent field readiness-to-serve (RTS) issues.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Uptower Repair Technologist, you will:
· Create
uptower/in situ repair/replacement procedures for wind drivetrain components
· Test
and validate repair/replacement procedures on the shop floor; both freestanding
components and inside complete wind turbine machine heads
· Work
cross functionally with Deployment Leaders and Field Engineers to prove out
safety and functionality
· Own the
design of innovative repair solutions and ensure adherence to engineering
standards.
· Follow
the team’s design quality standards and best practices to fully document
through Design Reviews, eDRB, PLM, Handoff Packages, etc.
· Support shop operation and
development as appropriate – rigging and disassembly of components,
prototyping, validation testing, organization, etc.
· Maintain
broad awareness of efforts within the group to assure lessons learned and
responsiveness to customer/program needs.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or equivalent) or other technical discipline from an accredited university or college (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of Field Services experience)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights
· Ability and willingness to travel globally up to 25% of the time when required
