Role Summary/Purpose
Accelerate your career as a Test Cell Engineer for the fast-growing Aero Energy Products and Services business. This position offers those with a strong technical background in Gas turbine operations and controls, a chance to enhance your skills, while working with the Service Center team to deliver thoroughly tested LM2500 and LM6000 engines to our broad customer base.
Essential Responsibilities
As a Test Cell Engineer you will:
· Provide Technical leadership, support 100+ engine tests through the Houston Service Center – Provide troubleshooting support to Test Operators/Technicians (Mechanical, Electrical, Performance etc.) + Customer test witness support (physical and remote)
· Support, maintain all Test Cell Systems (such as Emissions monitoring, Load Banks, Gas Compressors, Generator + Supporting equipment etc.) to ensure maximum uptime possible
· Make business critical decisions such as workscope creation, serviceability etc. in a timely manner, pulling in the right resources as needed.
· Provide Systems integration, programming and wiring design for control systems
· Support overtime and additional shift coverage, Special Tests and Upgrades as needed
· Maintain Woodward control systems and programs - GE PLC’s, IFIX and Cimplicity HMI’s
· Create and maintain Virtual environments
· Maintain networking equipment to include cabling, switches, and routers
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, I.T. or minimum 4 years relevant work experience with gas turbine engines and controls
· Minimum 1 years work experience in electrical/mechanical controls and troubleshooting Aero-derivative Gas Turbines /Aircraft engines in a test or powerplant environment
Desired Characteristics
· In-depth knowledge of Aeroderivative engine components, controls, assembly, test and quality methods
· Strong knowledge networking, and virtualization
· Strong knowledge of Woodward GAP
· Knowledge of DLE combustor mapping
· Knowledge of LM2500 and LM6000 trim balancing
· Knowledge of data acquisition programs such as System 1, ASE2000, and Historian
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
· Demonstrated leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Team player and self-starter
