Job Description Summary

GE - Renewable Energy would like to recruit a Tendering and Commercial Leader to work for the newly created GSI PTR PdG (GSI = Grid Systems Integration, PTR= Power Transformers, PdG= Product Delivery Group) team. The position holder will be leading the coordination with the GSI commercial team related to HVDC systems and PdG engineering during business development. The tendering activities of the PdG during tender preparation and negotiation, the technical coordination and design supervision with the other PTR manufacturing entities, the support to the development of the HVDC PTR component of the associated GSI-SER (SER = Services) offers.

Job Description

Key responsibilities

Lead overall ITO team to:

  • Establish a bid strategy in association with Capture Team Leaders to deliver the tender in an efficient manner, maximise Customers satisfaction and increase probability of success.
  • Deliver the bid in line with agreed bid strategy, organise the tendering activities, Co-ordinate with Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing & Project Management team to study feasibility, optimise the technical solution and commercial proposal
  • Prepare Customer meetings and negotiations, ensure clarifications/answers/presentations are available and reviewed ahead of Customers requests, and organise appropriate team to participate in Customer meetings. Develop and maintain outstanding relationships with Customer
  • Build and manage tender schedule, lead tender reviews, monitor and report on tender progress. Identify and act on any issue or deviation to bidding strategy in a clear and anticipated manner. Propose mitigation actions based on experience and implement corrective actions
  • Manage the overall ITO (Inquiry to Order) budget
  • Hand-over and launch the project to OTR (Order to Remittance) team
  • Propose and implement tendering process improvement aiming at significantly increasing the business financials: increase tendering team efficiency (reduction of tender costs) and improve the quality of the bid (reduce tendering slippage and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • ​Ensure adherence of the tendering team to tendering procedures and tools, in particular all relevant tender approvals and gates should be obtained and recorded in a timely manner. Provide leadership during the tender review process in addressing any concern so as to ensure on time delivery of the tender outputs. Also, ensure that all comments received during the Tender Approvals are recorded and addressed before submittal of the proposal.
  • Lead HVDC Tender review and participate to PRB (Project Review Board) and GSMM  (Grid Solutions Management Meeting)


Stakeholders:

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure coordination, continuous improvements actions, workload of the team and medium to long term PL development,
  • Engage with Renewable stakeholders to share best and common practices and joint deal development
  • Engage with partners and customers to ensure deal optimization and medium to long term relationship

  • Develop ITO culture within HVDC PL related to Target Costs, Value for money and customer expectations
  • Lead transverse PLs ITO group in Stafford to develop local ITO culture, return on experience and cross PL initiatives
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge of products and solution so as to better anticipate technical issues and promptly elaborate mitigation actions.
  • Develop Talents to create succession plans within the PL
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, customer requirements, and competitor actions, and provide recommendations to internal departments in order to better meet Customers satisfaction


Educational Requirements & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or proven experience of equivalent level.
  • Experience in a large international engineering projects environment, including proven experience in the successful management of complex tenders (or project) of medium to large scale, including sound understanding of commercial management and contract terms.
  • Proven ability to lead contract negotiations with Customers in an international environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work under very time constrained activities
  • Good Knowledge of HVDC/FACTS applications
  • Good understanding of electrical power system engineering for Utility customers
  • Knowledge of the company’s business set-up, aims and procedures
  • High degree of IT Literacy (Excel, Powerpoint, Words, MS  project, …)   with excellent numerical skills.
  • Willingness to travel outside of UK.
