Job Description

The Sand Blast Operator primarily supports the Blast Department as an entry level position where the associate is expected to clean and blast individual components and rotors as per specification in designated production orders. This position will also provide support other departments as needed.

Responsibilities:

·  As the Sand Blast Operator, you will: Observe all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) rules, including housekeeping practices
·  participate in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits
·  Proactively communicate and address safety concerns
·  Prepare blast facility by starting up ventilation system, blast system, respirator system and air compressor system
·  Follow surface preparation specification on projects per production order direction
·  Repair and replaces hoses, valves and blast media needed for operation
·  Load and manipulates parts and rotors onto blast car in an enclosed room and/or with the assistance of a qualified crane operator
·  Carefully prepare projects for blasting by masking off critical areas defined in production order that are not blasted or painted or identified as a critical tolerance location
·  Identify and communicates substandard performance and quality issues

Qualifications:

·  High School Diploma / GED
·  Minimum of 1 year experience reading and understanding work orders, blue-prints and instruction manuals including a minimum of 1 year experience operating general hand tools, electrical and pneumatic tools
·  Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime
·  Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment
·  Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites on short notice, both domestically and internationally, as required
·  Ability and willingness to gain nuclear access to work in a nuclear fueled facility

Characteristics:

·  Hazard Communication Certification / Training
·  Fork Truck Operation or overhead Crane Experience
·  Basic math skills and understanding of standard and metric measurement systems
·  Ability to manage time and work under time restraints and deadlines
·  Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment including a respirator (must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test)
·  Must be willing to support overtime during the weekdays and weekends, shift rotations may be required at times to meet our customers need for on time delivery
