Job Description Summary

GE Vernova’s OnSite Specialty Services (OSS) is seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Specialist with hands-on experience in precision alignment of steam turbine internal components using advanced laser tracker technology, such as the FARO Laser Tracker. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring optimal turbine performance and reliability by executing high-precision alignments and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and thrives in a dynamic, service-driven environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

·  Travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, to customer sites with minimal restrictions.
·  Perform high-precision laser alignment of steam turbine internal components, including rotors, diaphragms, and casings, using state-of-the-art metrology equipment (e.g., FARO Laser Tracker).
·  Establish and verify critical rotating and stationary component clearances, accounting for tops-on/tops-off deflection models and thermal growth factors.
·  Conduct detailed inspections and 3D measurements to validate alignment accuracy and turbine geometry.
·  Collaborate with engineering and project teams to interpret technical drawings, alignment specifications, and OEM tolerances.
·  Document alignment results, generate comprehensive technical reports, and present findings to project stakeholders.
·  Support troubleshooting and resolution of alignment-related issues during turbine installation, maintenance, and major overhauls.
·  Ensure all work complies with GE Vernova’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college OR High school diploma / GED with/plus at least 4 years of mechanical repair job related experience
·  At least 3 years of field service experience performing laser tracker measurements and precision alignment, preferably in steam or gas turbine environments.

Desired Characteristics

·  Working knowledge of 3D coordinate systems and spatial measurement principles.
·  Experience aligning components to an ideal centerline and understanding geometric tolerances.
·  Hands-on experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., Laser Trackers, Hamar Laser systems) and related software.
·  Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
·  Physically able to work in challenging environments, including climbing multiple flights of stairs and working in elevated temperatures.
·  Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and extended hours as required by project schedules.

The base pay range for this position is $75,000. - $95,000. USD annual The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for up to 5% bonus based on business performance, overtime and international location premium. This position will be posted to May 10th. 2025
