Job Description

Our tech stack is deep because we interact with real things in the real world where the outcome matters. Our systems collect, analyze, and interact with other systems in real-time. Our QA team uses:

  • JIRA/Confluence to manage tickets and for defect management
  • Python to build integration tests for GridOS.
  • Docker for containerization and deployment.
  • Gitlab for repository and release management, as well as schedule and build automation

The opportunity

Opus One is looking for a QA Manager who will be part of a broad and multidisciplinary team that will include Developers, DevOps Engineers, and energy experts. Someone who will lead end-to-end test strategies for complicated power systems software, sometimes with hardware in the loop. A QA Manager who wants to help us answer the question “How do you build, test & deploy software that will create a cleaner and smarter grid that solves clients’ engineering problems?”.

What will our new QA manager work on?

  • Lead and manage the development of end-to-end test strategies, test plans and product release process.
  • Work with Development Managers and Professional Services team to make sure all the required artifacts are available and up to date (release build (for both cloud and on-prem builds), release test plan and report, release notes, product manuals) and provide test scoping, effort estimate during milestone planning.
  • Analyze the project requirements, understand specifications, and make sure that the test plan provides the necessary coverage to ensure the quality of the release.
  • Validate that the product meets release criteria and highlight any potential risks.
  • Communicate release status to R&D and Professional Services teams.
  • Support Professional Services team in developing functional user acceptance tests.
  • Drive continuous improvements to the QA process including both manual and automated tests.
  • Collaborate with Development Managers to ensure continuous improvements to quality assurance is made throughout the whole SDLC. This includes ensuring requirement clarity, design for testability, and data consistency. 
  • Work with DevOps in configuring and initializing QA environments to support effective testing in production like scenarios.
  • Lead and manage non-functional testing requirements such as performance, scalability, and security.

Requirements

  • The education. You have a degree or diploma in Computer Sciences, IT, or related field.
  • The experience. You have minimum 3years in Software QA experience where you have delivered enterprise level software solutions and have played a lead role in the deployment of a software product. You have minimum 2 years of experience as a manager or team lead to 3 or more direct reports.
  • The technical. You have done your share of programming and can use it when needed. You are aware of current test automation frameworks and DevOps tools. You can objectively evaluate their cost and value to an organization.
  • The Software Deployment expertise. You have experience getting a software release out the door.
  • The skills. You are organized and detail oriented. You can plan, prioritize while possessing excellent analytical skills.
  • The passion. You are equally passionate about clean tech as you are about SDLC quality, requirement clarity and continuous improvement. You have a deep appreciation for the Agile methodology.
