Role Summary/Purpose
The Sr DevOps Engineer will be responsible for collaborating with developers, engineers, and product managers to implement and operate mission-critical and highly available web sites that support GE's online presence. This candidate will be both extremely passionate and have demonstrated experience with building and supporting public cloud infrastructure on AWS, DevOps methods and tool chains, CI/CD pipelines, scripting/automation, and a strong desire to continuously improve.
Essential Responsibilities
• Develop automated solutions to predict and address potential problems before they result in a service interruption
• Oversee and adapt monitoring and alerting systems
• Collaborate with all GE business units worldwide, providing a bastion technical expertise
• Identify potential process improvements across the entire commercial marketing organization
• Define and drive architectural enhancements into system to mitigate potential failure points
• Provide impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment
• Investigate root cause of severe and systemic outages, identify corrective actions
• Establish performance baseline, capacity thresholds, correlate events, and define monitoring/alerting criteria
• Provide technical coaching and direction to more junior teammates
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a minimum 6 years of professional experience in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics) OR a HS diploma/GED with a minimum 10 years of professional experience in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics

Desired Characteristics
Technical Expertise:
• Expert knowledge of setup, configuration and administration of various Linux operating systems and their components (e.g. RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.)
• Strong experience in administration of web servers and web application servers (e.g. Apache, WebSphere, nginx, Tomcat, JBoss, etc.)
• Strong experience deploying and managing infrastructure and applications on public clouds – AWS preferred (VPC, EC2, Auto-Scaling Groups, S3, RDS, ELB’s, ALB’s, CloudFront, WAF, IAM, KMS, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to create server-side and client-side scripts to automate repeatable tasks (e.g. PHP, Ruby, Python, Perl, JS, Node js, Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience with configuration and administration of containerization technologies and tools and ability to troubleshoot containerized applications (e.g. Docker, Docker Swarm, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, AWS Container Services, etc.)
• Experience with code deployment processes using various DevOps and CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g. Jenkins, GIT, GitLab, CVS, Subversion, Chef, Ansible, AWS CodeCommit, CodeDeploy, Lambda, CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience with development, configuration, hosting, and administration of various web-based PHP CMS platforms (e.g. Drupal, WordPress, etc.)
• Experience with configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic, Nagios, AppDynamics, SolarWinds, Riverbed, LogRhythm, CloudWatch/CloudTrail, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience with server, network, and application troubleshooting at all OSI layers (Routing/Switching, proxies, firewalls, WAF, server resources, application logs, load balancers, etc.)
