Role Summary/Purpose
The SOX Internal Auditor role sits within Power’s HQ Controllership SOX group. The SOX team will focus on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control testing with potential expansion into broader operational and compliance control responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
Auditor is responsible for ensuring that the SOX processes support compliance with the COSO (Committee of sponsoring organizations of the Treadway Commission) framework of internal controls for financial reporting. The Analyst will develop process narratives and controls documentation. S/he will perform assurance procedures to assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting. The Analyst will propose process improvement recommendations and help prepare reporting for business leadership.
Participate in the design of an annual audit plan and perform these key activities (initial focus on SOX):
· Perform walk-throughs of business cycles and assess the effectiveness of the processes and controls (Tests of Design)
· Develop or update in-scope process narratives, flow charts, and control matrices
· Execute testing for various business processes and headquarter level activity in accordance with defined test attributes and guidance (Tests of Effectiveness)
· Prepare and complete testing work papers in GE audit tool (Auditworks)
· Collect and maintain evidence to support the testing and monitoring of deficiencies
· Monitor, follow up on the status of corrective action plans, and test the remediation of identified deficiencies
· Conduct interviews, analyze data, and formulate recommendations to mitigate identified deficiencies and improve overall control environment
· Facilitate external auditor’s information requests, reach consensus on conclusions, track control deficiencies and coordinate remediation efforts identified by external auditor
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting or Finance
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in audit and/or controllership
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
Desired Characteristics
· Experience with SOX compliance and Section 404 testing or equivalent experience
· Understanding of the COSO framework, SOX, financial reporting risks, internal controls & test plan development, US GAAP, and IFRS
· Public accounting experience preferred
· External certification preferred: CPA, CA, CIA, CISA, CFE
· Experience with SOX Compliance and Section 404 testing
· Manufacturing industry experience highly desirable
· Skilled in identifying risks & controls and developing audit tests of controls
· Excellent an clear verbal and written communication skills
· Strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills with orientation toward process improvement
· Demonstrated capabilities in the management of complex projects including on-time, high quality deliverables
· Excellent problem solving Skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word and Visio)
· SAP / Oracle experience desirable
