Job Description Summary

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Methods and Special Tooling Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in the preparation and execution of procedures, methods, and design for installation activities related to the disassembly and reassembly of hydro turbines and generators. The engineer will be responsible for developing installation tools, coordinating site machining, winding, metrology, and handling components while contributing to site strategy, proposals, procurement, quality, and site support.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

·  Technical Analysis:  Analyze technical specifications, scope of work, and division of work to ensure project alignment and success.
·  Method Development:  Design and implement methods and special tooling for site disassembly and assembly, adhering to site planning, budget constraints, and EHS standards.
·  Design and Coordination:  Plan and support the equipment and tooling design phase, coordinating with procurement, site, and project teams to ensure seamless execution.
·  Design Review Participation:  Engage in design reviews to ensure consistency and alignment with site installation methods.
·  Innovation and Optimization:  Innovate and optimize methods and tooling design to enhance efficiency and reduce site installation time.
·  Technical Documentation:  Prepare and oversee the execution of technical drawings and write comprehensive engineering documents, including procedures, engineering notes, technical specifications, and maintenance guidelines.
·  Technical Support:  Provide technical support to supply chain operations and site teams, including on-site presence as required.
·  Cost Validation:  Collaborate with Construction & Commissioning team members to validate costing and tooling during the tendering phase.
·  Project Management:  Oversee deliverables and budgets for assigned projects, potentially leading a technical team of up to five individuals.

Required Qualifications:

·  Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
·  Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
·  Owner of a Professional Engineer (PE) Stamp or in process.

Desired Characteristics:

·  Extensive experience in the hydroelectricity field is highly recommended.
·  Knowledge of welding and machining processes is an asset.
·  Proficiency in calculation methods related to material resistance, finite element simulation, metallurgy, and welding.
·  Strong team collaboration and effective communication skills.
·  Familiarity with OSHA B30.20 Safety Standards for Material Handling and Lifting Equipment.
·  Authorization to work in Canada or the US without restrictions.
·  Willingness to travel occasionally within North America (15% travel).
·  Passion for mechanical design and hydropower industry.
·  Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
·  Competency in 3D design using Siemens NX.
·  Intermediate knowledge of SmartSheet and Excel.
·  Prepared for pre-employment screening, including reference checks and background checks.
