Role Summary/Purpose
The Repair Development Engineer will be responsible for identifying, developing, industrializing, and globalizing the inspection and repair process for gas turbine components. Strategy, Creativity, and solid engineering judgment will be critical for the success of this role. This person will lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business with the goal of improving repair quality, cost, and cycle .
Essential Responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
· Contribute to the team strategy to ensure the repair development of required components.
· Collaborate strongly with RDC to ensure all required processes are completed and meet all technical requirements.
· Executes the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
· Assure all component/process designs meet requirements
· Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, ATO, and systems engineering
· Support service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI)
· Provide strong guidance and contribution to DMP and design to cost projects
· Communicate progress to all levels of the organization
· Collaborate with design engineering and lead design reviews for repairs
· Performs Risk analysis for repair or part replacement
· Mentor and develop less experienced personnel
· Understanding of manufacturing processes (Machining, Welding, Coating, etc)
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering
· Minimum of 3 years engineering experience
· Minimum of 1 year of experience working with and/or supporting a manufacturing environment
Desired Characteristics
· Experience in Gas Turbine hot gas path or combustion manufacture, design or repair
· Six Sigma training
· Strong mechanical design and analytical background
· Ability to drive projects to completion
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Strong interpersonal, leadership, and decision-making skills
· Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
· EEDP or other leadership program graduate
