Role Summary/Purpose

- Baker Hughes M&C HSE APAC offers the opportunity as Radiation Safety officer (RSO) to be part of the team to support Inspection Technology operation
- The Radiation radioactive isotopes Safety officer (RSO) is the technical expert on the HSE Team, and acts as the technical resource to the Field and Management on Safety matters around Industrial Radiography in Korea. 
- 1 year Direct Contractor position

Essential Responsibilities

1. The RSO is responsible for assuring that all job sites and facilities that use radiation conform to the Radioactive Material Licenses, selected industry standards and applicable government regulations Responsible for ensuring company follows all regulatory rules / laws. 
2. Review local & national laws and Operations & Emergency Manual (O&E) to recommend modifications to enhance and ensure the compliance, safety, and efficiency of the Radiation Safety Program with Corporate RSO. 
3. Takes responsibilities for Radiation Safety at the base making sure BH’s Radiation related operations are completely compliant with National Laws and company Radiation Safety Policies. 
4. Liaises with Government officers on all Radiation related matters such as import/export, registration/deregistration and transportation etc., making sure BH’s Radiation related operations are completely compliant with National Laws and company Radiation Safety Policies. 
5. Works closely with Operations to make sure appropriate Radioactive Materials are dispatched to/from wellsite on time with appropriate paperwork, as per operational requirements. 
6. Coordinates/conducts routine maintenance/inspection on BH’s Radioactive Materials in accordance with company Radiation Safety Policies. Maintains company Radiation Database in a timely manner. 
7. Coordinates/conducts Radiation Safety training courses for company Radiation Workers in accordance with the requirements of National Laws and company Radiation Safety Policies. 
8. Coordinates routine physical examinations for company Radiation Workers in accordance with the requirements of National Laws and company Radiation Safety Policies.  
9. Responsible for the management of personal Radiation Badges, including distribution, collecting and returning to headquarter. 
10. Establishes Dose Records and Health Records for Radiation Workers.  
11. Perform and/or review investigations of overexposures, accidents, losses, thefts, unauthorized receipts, misuses or other deviations from approved radiation safety practice and implement corrective actions when necessary. 
12. Respond to radiation safety emergencies and prepare and submit reports to the appropriate governing bodies. 
13. Responsible for Korea. 
14. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) License applications, renewals, and notifications including Isotope and X-ray tubes unless covered by other entities. 
15. Directly responsible to NRC for License, any items of non-compliance and corrective action. 
16. Responsible for employee radiation safety equipment maintenance, inventory, and calibrations. 
17. Responsible to ensure that employees are trained, carded, and background checked. 
18. Responsible for source storage facilities and access rights to devices, if applicable. 
19. Responsible for tracking, alarming and locating Isotopes in the Field. 
20. Assist regional/local HSE specialist. 
21. Responsible for ensuring field and regional offices follow all regulations and license requirements. 
22. Additional items as deemed necessary by the business.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Radiation Isotopes (RI) Safety License is requisite.  
- At least 1 year’ Radiation related work experience in a field/operation environment. 
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.  
- Integrity; strong accountability & teamwork spirit. 
- Excellent mentality on HSE. 
- Good interpersonal communication skill. 
- Required professional ethics; 
- Comply with company Core Value and Code of Conduct.

Desired Characteristics

- Radiation Isotopes (RI) Safety License is requisite
- Strong ability to analyze and resolve problems.  
- Keen understanding of radiation uses with NDT method of Industrial radiography. 
- Have formal training in the establishment and maintenance of a radiation protection program. Refresher courses to stay up to date with new rules and laws will be required. 
- Must possess experience in the establishment and maintenance of a radiation protection program. 
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time doing field audits, source changes and incident investigations. 
- Microsoft Office skills. 
- More than 1 year’ experience in Radiation Safety within Industrial Radiography for the NDT Industry.
