Role Summary/Purpose

Supervises the daily operations of a power plant. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are followed. Supervises operations staff. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with maintenance department.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Perform Operations Supervision of direct reports, which includes compliance with established policies, practices, and procedures as well as performance management of direct reports
·  Promote a safe working environment and ensure that all personnel and contractors follow plant and company safety procedures and policies
·  Align employee actions with corporate, business unit, and department objectives to promote continuous employee learning, and development while maintaining compliance
·  Provide direct supervision to the current Energy Plant Safety Process
·  Ensure compliance with Corporate Safety standards and approved practices for the protection of all personnel
·  Ensure the safe isolation/lock-out and restoration of site equipment
·  Provide continuous monitoring of boilers, turbine/generators, and auxiliary equipment ensuring the safe and reliable operation of plant equipment
·  Supervise and support Plant Energy core processes, and initiatives which include: Plant Operations Excellence, Commercial Commitment to Excellence, Energy Plant Standard Compliance, Unit Reliability, Surveillance Testing, Operations Transactions Systems, Utility Group Safety Process, Operations Information Systems, Operator Skills Development Process, Environmental Compliance, and the Automated Tagging System
·  Assume a project supervisory role in designated situations
·  Support the HSE Specialist to ensure the facility environmental compliance, including the preparation of quarterly and annual reports
·  Monitor and optimize plant performance. This should include periodic testing, evaluations, and recommendations to the owner for improvement projects with cost justifications. Encourage the plant staff to incorporate improvements internally to reduce contractor costs
·  Supervise the operations staff to promote efficient operations and utilization of overtime hours
·  Maintain a productive and motivated staff through sound human resource management and the enforcement of personnel policy
·  Set high and challenging productivity and quality standards for self and work group; encourages new ideas and work methods to lower costs and increase productivity, efficiency, quality and safety
·  Work with departmental personnel to ensure job/task development and knowledge base are maintained at required levels
·  CMMS experience work order management
·  Monitor inventory levels of chemicals and consumables related to operations to assure adequate supplies are available to maintain operations
·  Skill to train and transfer know how to new or junior employees
·  Perform/assist in other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related from an accredited university
·  5+ years supervisory experience in energy plant operations
·  Ability to plan, coordinate and manage projects of varying complexity
·  2-5 years of supervisory experience with a diverse employee population
