Role Summary/Purpose
GE Inspection & Life Extension Services is looking for a highly motivated individual to acquire, assemble, and process nondestructive inspection data from tests performed on turbo generator equipment at customer sites domestic and globally.
Essential Responsibilities
· Prepare and review pre-inspection documentation to identify test parameters and requirements
· Execute inspection on customer site
· Visual inspection of Generator components, Exciter and auxiliary equipment
· Operate robotic inspection equipment
· Electrical testing (DC and AC) and non-destructive mechanical testing on generator main components, exciter and auxiliary equipment
· Interpretation of test results to determine maintenance requirements
· Acquisition and evaluation of generator health monitoring data
· Fact finding in case of generator equipment failure Derive maintenance work orders based on inspection results
· Develop and produce formal customer reports containing recommendations, computer generated graphics, plots, tables, summaries and comparisons
· Maintain & archive electronic and hard copy inspection data and reports
· Identify and execute improvement projects in the field of generator test and inspect
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 5 years of experience in the power generation business with generator monitoring and diagnostic experience) from an accredited university or college
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to work overtime / weekend / off-hours and very frequent domestic and international travel
· Ability and willingness to work remotely
Desired Characteristics
· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Ability to interpret, write & assemble technical documents, drawings, and reports
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, schedule assignments
· Work effectively with minimal direction and supervision
· Experience using digital data acquisition systems and analysis software tools
· Power generation industry experience in the field of generator inspection and testing
· Experience in High Voltage electrical testing
· Experience working in a customer field service organization
