Role Summary/Purpose
As a Military Lead Engineer for Embedded SW Development, you will help develop software used for controls and analytics for military engine applications. The Military Lead Engineer role includes requirements development, integration, design, verification, testing and qualification of embedded software. This position requires a self-driven individual ready to tackle the daily challenges associated with a New Product Introduction (NPI) program and its challenging customer commitments.
Essential Responsibilities
The Military Lead Engineer will demonstrate leadership and execute on the business goals, programs, and processes associated with aircraft engine embedded software development. Individual will be part of a team but taking ownership of specific portions in generating software requirements, executing on model / code design integrated with other systems, developing and conducting robust testing, and contribute to process and tool development. All of this to help deliver to customer and management requirements.
As part of the Engine Embedded Software Organization, you will help develop the future of military engines functions to align with short-term and long-term business goals.
In addition, as the Military Lead Engineer, You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems and develop and execute objectives doing the following:
· Develop and maintain software requirements and designs for components, systems, and communication networks
· Design, implement, and test real-time embedded software, ensuring requirements and quality specifications are met
· Participate actively in design and code reviews
· Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project and mentoring to less experienced engineers
· Document technical data generated for assigned projects / tasks, consistent with engineering policies and procedures
· Provide timely communication to leadership on significant issues or developments
· Provide input to planning and tracking to support metrics-based continuous improvement
· Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
· Interact closely with military customers and airframers to analyze, clarify, and correct requirements and designs, driving to complete customer satisfaction
· Work closely with other engineering teams, partners, and vendors to ensure inter-operability
· Drive performance and reliability improvements through process and tool development and refinement that meet agency, GE and customer requirements

Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Engineering position
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
· Ability to obtain a Secret Government Clearance

Desired Characteristics
· Ability to influence others within a matrix organization and lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
· Knowledge in real time software development for embedded systems
· Control System Software / Hardware Architecture and integrated design
· Working knowledge of C, assembly, Perl or Python languages
· Familiarity using the following tools:
· DOORs
· SCADE
· RTC
· SIMICS
· desktop simulation using NPSS
· Experience in design, implementation, test and certification of real-time embedded software
· Digital communication protocols such as:
· MIL-STD-1553
· AFDX
· ARINC 429
· IEEE-1394
· EADIN
· and/or CAN bus
· Familiarity with military software qualification or with DO-178C and commercial aviation software certification
· Firm understanding of the software development process with focus on CMMI and Model Based Development
· Knowledge of aircraft controls and digital electronic control systems
· Experience with requirements documentation and analysis
· Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
· Strong oral and written communication skills and organization skills
· Effective problem identification and solution skills
· Proven analytical and organizational ability
· Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
