Role Summary/Purpose

The Fuel Mechanical Packaging Engineer will be responsible for the design and licensing of nuclear fuel packaging. This position is part of the team responsible for developing and designing fuel bundle technologies for application in nuclear reactors.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Mechanical Packaging Engineer you will:

·  Serve as the subject matter expert on shipping and packaging of nuclear materials and fuel assemblies
·  Support nuclear regulatory review and evaluation. Ensure regulatory compliance of all packaging, both domestic and international
·  Address emergent customer and manufacturing issues
·  Lead development and implementation of new packaging technology or application of an existing package to new content
·  Support broader Fuel Performance and Design initiatives
·  Provide well written, well organized documented engineering analyses to assure design adequacy
·  Perform design reviews and production readiness reviews
·  Develop procedures and work to improve engineering productivity  

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University
Desired Characteristics

·  Master’s Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University
·  Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience
·  Demonstrated problem solving ability and ability to perform complex engineering analyses resulting in thorough and complete documentation
·  Nuclear Packaging experience
·  BWR fuel technology or reactor experience
·  Strong communication skills and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
·  Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, vibration analysis, heat transfer, Finite Element Analysis, statistics and drafting practices
·  Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment
·  Ability to make presentations to large groups
·  A self-starter willing to take initiative
