Role Summary/Purpose

Variable cost productivity (VCP) is critical to the success of GE Healthcare and Imaging. It is a key customer value differentiator and competitive advantage for business growth. VCP engineers are a key part of the Imaging Engineering center of excellence. The team executes on strategic and high value cost reduction projects. As a VCP Mechanical Engineer, you will focus on driving down product and service cost.
Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):
1.Execute design to engineering standards
2.Serve as technical resource for driving material cost reduction through design changes, supplier transfers, or should cost analyses that drive lower negotiated supplier pricing.
3.Support development of new cost reduction concepts and associated business case details for Imaging Modality VCP Leads
4.Work with VCP team and/or technical leadership to ensure that the technical deliverables are consistent with the goals of larger programs, projects or initiatives
5.Lead design visualization efforts with 3D CAD models and essential component and assembly details to explore multiple design options
6.Develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability
7.Develop engineering design concepts for components and electromechanical assemblies that have demanding requirements for size, precision, reliability and cost
8.Engage in all phases of new product development, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support
9.Identify and develop new opportunities to leverage Strategic Sourcing objectives and Common Technology initiatives in the modality product lines B
10.Conduct analysis of installed base and new product reliability using FMEA, Weibull Analysis and Design for Reliability (DFR)
11.Define and execute component design verification and system level validation
12.Seek mentoring to learn and solve problems

Qualifications/Requirements

1. BS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
2.Basic working knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines including mechanics, thermal, materials, dynamics, mechatronics, and manufacturing processes.
3.Understanding in theories, concepts and techniques in mechanical computational analysis and simulation.
4.Knowledge of quality and safety industry standards as related to mechanical systems.
5.Experience with methods and tools related to reliability growth, failure analysis, design for manufacturing, life cycle and quality engineering.
6.Experience with design capture systems including 3D CAD (Pro-E/Creo, SolidWorks, NX Unigraphics)
7. You must be a US Citizen, Permanent Resident, EAD or Green Card holder. There is no sponsorship for this role.
Desired Characteristics

1.4 years relevant work experience
2.Demonstrated technical leadership capability in integration activities
3.Experience with plastics, epoxies (adhesives), resins, thermal analysis, injection molding, blow molding, vacuum forming and other forming processes; structural engineering, castings, analysis, and verification of mechanical structures, systems, or electro/opto-mechanical assemblies; or materials selection, Metallurgy, casting, forging, and metal forming.
4.Experience with verification of mechanical systems, and/or electro/opto-mechanical assemblies.
5.Understanding of theories, concepts techniques, and the application of polymers in designs and the various methods of forming and manufacturing such materials; structural, static and/or dynamic analysis; or casting, forging, metal forming, heat treating, and other metallurgical processes
6.Knowledge of industry and/or academic practices and standards related to verification testing, thermal analysis, and finite element analysis, and; structural analysis, castings, forging, and finite element analysis; Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
7.Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills
8.Ability to meet aggressive reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and delivery targets
9.Effective oral and written communication skills
10.Global project experience
11.Green Belt/Black Belt Certified
